How will you avoid an accident during rush hour?

If you’ve ever been on the road during rush hour (and you probably have), you know just how dangerous it can be. Everyone is in a rush to reach his or her destination, which makes it difficult to avoid trouble.

You need to do whatever you can to avoid an accident during rush hour. This is easier said than done, but there are some basic tips you can follow:

— Slow down. Even if everyone around you is in a hurry, it doesn’t mean that you have to take the same approach. Instead, you should slow down, watch what is going on around you, and make decisions that will put you in a safe place.

— Stay in your lane. One of the top causes of rush hour accidents is lane changing. Although it may seem that the other lane is moving faster, it doesn’t mean that you should jump back and forth. Stay put to decrease the likelihood of being involved in a crash.

— Watch for distracted drivers. Many people become distracted in rush hour traffic. For example, they take their eyes off the road to make a phone call or answer a text message. You want to keep your distance from these drivers.

There is no surefire way to avoid an accident during rush hour, but there are steps you can take to improve your chance of doing so. If for any reason you are involved in a motor vehicle accident, move your car to safety, receive immediate medical treatment and then focus on your legal rights.
