Traffic deaths on the rise in 2016, but why?

The number of traffic deaths in the United States increased a whopping 10.4 percent in the first six months of 2016 in comparison to the first six months of 2015. Experts believe that the number of traffic deaths will continue to rise steadily if nothing is done.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recently released a report noting that the number of miles driven by Americans in the first half of this year is 3.3 percent higher than the number of miles driven in the first half of 2015, so that is likely a contributing factor.

However, 50.5 billion more miles driven so far this year does not totally account for the significant rise in the number of traffic deaths.

While 16,100 people died in car accidents in the first six months of 2015, there were 17,775 people who died in car wrecks in the first half of this year. So far, officials have not been able to pinpoint an exact cause for this significant increase.

What can you expect after being involved in a car accident?

If you have been seriously injured or a loved one has been killed in a car accident, you may be wondering what your next steps should be and what you can expect to face, legally speaking.

Unfortunately, the victims of serious car accidents usually face many obstacles. Some of these obstacles include mounting medical bills, lost income, replacement or repair of the vehicle, and the physical and emotional trauma.

An experienced personal injury lawyer can help with each of these challenges.

We will listen carefully to your account of the accident, and then conduct a thorough investigation to find out every detail possible. We will hold negligent parties responsible, and demand that you get a full and fair settlement from the insurance company.

Unless we win your case, you will not have to pay any attorney fees, as we operate on a contingency fee basis only. For more information about the services we provide here at Hornsby Watts, PLLC, don't hesitate to contact us by calling 228-207-2990 for a free consultation with us.
